BINGO-ING CRAZY FOR WORLD CUP KICK OFF AT MERKUR BINGO

With the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicking off in just two days time, MERKUR Bingo has given the red card to traditional bingo ball calls and substituted  them with some of football's most iconic moments from the world's largest sporting event.

‘They think it's all over - 66' and ‘Gazza's tears Italia - 90' are among the exclusive calls that will be used across MERKUR's three UK bingo clubs, including the largest bingo hall in Europe, MERKUR Bingo Cricklewood, throughout the tournament.

"It's a fun way to tap into the football fever over the next month," said Stephen Young, MERKUR Bingo Cricklewood manager, "There's something for everyone, from calls from recent World Cups through to memories from the early 50's."

Some of the tournament's most iconic moments had to be moved to the subs bench to make way for more in-form players like ‘his goals are sublime Harry Kane's #9', and ‘Brazil's Cafu #2', while a nod to the hosts appears further down the calls as ‘Qatar's debut #62'."

Classic footy calls include: Bend it like Beckham #7, Referee! #43 and Penalty! #73

More risqué calls include Fifa's fix? #56, Not in Qatar Danny la Rue #52 and a nod to this year's Wagatha Christie trial, Wag-gate #78.  The Rooney's make a second appearance in the run down with Wayne featuring as Rooney's confession #57 - a nod to old infidelities.

The old guard of Messi and Ronaldo, arguably playing in their last World Cups feature at 35 - Messi will survive #35 (his age) and recognising Ronaldo's recent woes with shout ‘don't betray him any more', Christiano Ronaldo is #24.

No World Cup bingo lingo would be complete without a nod to the songs that are part of our national consciousness and ensure England fans are the 12thman. The World in Motion anthem can be found as: Express yourself it's 1and 1 (#11), while the Lionesses' anthem and loved by ex-England captain and celebrity Jungle-dweller Jill Scott isSweet Caroline #29.

Every four years the World Cup puts the beautiful game under the spotlight and hopefully MERKUR Bingo will see their own Jules Rimet Trophy winner in the form of a jackpot win.

Cricklewood, whose biggest ever winner bagged an eyewatering £100,000, has two bars, a restaurant that enjoys extensive menus and the opportunity to play the latest slot gaming machines, alongside a designated smoking area.
