British Breeding / Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Evaluation gives
Elite Award to West Midlands based Colt.

Welford-on-Avon based Carron Nicol achieved a superb Elite Award for her colt, Valentino CK.  He earned the top score, for a foal in showjumping, at the British Breeding Baileys Futurity Evaluations which recently took place at Kingswood Equestrian Centre, Wolverhampton.

The Futurity Evaluation series aims to identify British-bred young potential sport horses and ponies destined for careers in dressage, eventing, showjumping or endurance.  It may even find the stars of the future who will go on to compete at World Championships, or become Olympic Champions.

Carron gave some background to Valentino CK's evaluated success: "His dam jumped in British Showjumping and won her last 3 classes before we decided to put her in foal. She has a lovely nature and is a really good mother. Valentino CK has always been an independent horse - we could lead his mother in from the field for a day and he would just stay in the field, with his friends, never making any fuss.  He would just be pleased to see his mother when she returned hours later!"

The sire of Valentino CK is Chrysler Key who Carron also owns with her Leo Lamb riding him. They have  had a lot of success this year including a win in the 5year old class at Chepstow International and Bolesworth. "Chrysler Key has been in great demand both this year and last and is producing some incredible stock. CK passes on his beautiful head, presence and fabulous movement to all his youngstock."  Carron hopes to keep Valentino entire and produce him for showjumping.

A Director of British Breeding says of the evaluations"Wonderful quality young horses are again being presented this year and breeders are getting valuable feedback from the expert evaluators.  Since its inception the Futurity has identified many youngsters who we are now seeing at top level competition and on British Teams such as Lordships Graffalo and Pencos Crown Jewel competing in Eventing with Ros Canter and Carouet competing with Sarah Bullimore."

Futurity scores are used by many breeders as a credible marketing tool for their young horses, adding value to a young horse whilst it is still too young to have achieved a performance recordFor moreinformation, visitwww.british-breeding.com
