Press release for immediate publication - 17thNovember 2022

British Breeding / Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Evaluation gives
Elite Award to North Yorkshire based Stud.

Aredis Sport Horses, based in Summerbridge, North Yorkshire, recently achieved the top score of the day, and the only Elite Award at the Richmond Equestrian Centre for their 3 year old, potential top showjumper Aredis Calipso.

The Futurity Evaluation series aims to identify British-bred young potential sport horses and ponies destined for careers in dressage, eventing, showjumping or endurance.  It may even find the stars of the future who will go on to compete at World Championships, or become Olympic Champions.

Aredis Calipso scored 9.05 for showjumping, also making him the top scoring 3 year old of the series, across all disciplines, for owner and breeder, Steve Pullan of Aredis Sport Horses.  Now gelded, this modern, quality type impressed with his athletic ability, good balance and ground cover scoring 9.25 for canter and was tidy and quick with his feet down the jumping lane scoring 9.5.  His sire is Cabrio Z, who is by Cassini I going back to Capitol I and whose dam, Kira VIII is a daughter of another Capitol son, Calato.   Aredis Calipso's dam is Hera-Twiggy Svg, by Quality Time out of a Voltaire mare.

Nikki Hazlett produces the in-hand horses for Steve, and Calipso went to her six weeks before these evaluations.  "I did a lot of long-line work to build strength.  He has a temperament to die for and is really straightforward, going straight over the poles and down the jumping lane with no fuss.  He has now been backed and ridden away and is hacking round the countryside.  He will go over a few poles and pop a little grid, but he won't do much more than that this side of Christmas", described Nikki.   "The plan is for him to be sold, and he moves so well he could go eventing.  If he is still here next year I would love to do some 4 year old classes with him and possibly aim for the Equine Bridge."

A Director of British Breeding says of the evaluations"Wonderful quality young horses are again being presented this year and breeders are getting valuable feedback from the expert evaluators.  Since its inception the Futurity has identified many youngsters who we are now seeing at top level competition and on British Teams such as Lordships Graffalo and Pencos Crown Jewel competing in Eventing with Ros Canter and Carouet competing with Sarah Bullimore."

Futurity scores are used by many breeders as a credible marketing tool for their young horses, adding value to a young horse whilst it is still too young to have achieved a performance recordFor moreinformation, visitwww.british-breeding.com
