Driffield poultry business reaches finals of regional awards
The team at Soanes Poultry is celebrating after its chicken was shortlisted in the deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards.
Soanes Poultry's Red Tractor accredited Grain Fed Chicken has reached the final in the Best Fresh Meat category in what is regarded as the largest food and drink awards programme in the region.
"We're proud of our provenance, our heritage and our delicious chicken and we're very proud to have come through the blind tasting round to reach the final of these awards that celebrate the best of Yorkshire food and drink producers," said Soanes Poultry's MD, Ben Lee.
Head Judge, BBC Broadcaster and artisan food expert Nigel Barden said: "Yet again Yorkshire has come up trumps! Thanks to a record number of entries again this year we've had the pleasure of judging a huge variety of top-quality Yorkshire food, drink and businesses and as ever, narrowing it down into a shortlist for each category has been a challenge!"
Fellow finalists in the category that is sponsored by Yorkshire Agricultural Society includeMonk Fryston Organics, Herb Fed Ltd and Tunstall Meat Company.
Winners will be announced at a dinner at thePavilions of Harrogate on Wednesday, 9th November, whenNigel Barden and chef consultant, Steph Moon will host an evening of champagne, local food and celebration.
Soanes Poultry has also reached the final in the Remarkable Local Producer category of the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) and will find out whether they have won at an awards dinner on 10thNovember.
Soanes Poultry was founded by Tom Soanes and has been rearing and preparing chicken for 75 years. It sells chicken to butchers and independent retailers throughout Yorkshire and to wholesalers and catering butchers nationwide.
