“Today the Chancellor has announced a Stamp Duty Tax reduction that is aimed fairly and squarely where help is needed the most: first time buyers.

“However, we need to see more detail on the other measure announced in the ‘Growth Plan’, which is designed to boost supply, as this is not a new idea. Other such announcements in the past have had little or no effect. Bold action, not vague words, is needed. 

“We now have the 10th Housing Minister in the last 10 years. Let’s hope that he lasts a bit longer than a few months and can really get to grips with our chronic housing needs.”
