Driffield poultry business's MD wins industry award
The team at an East Yorkshire poultry business is celebrating after its MD won a prestigious industry award.
Ben Lee from Middleton on the Wolds business, Soanes Poultry was presented with the Young Manager of the Year award at the Meat Management Industry Awards held in Birmingham on 15thSeptember.
Mr Lee faced competition from Chris Riley from Crosby Management Training and Nathan Price from Price and Fretwell. The Young Manager Award celebrates someone who has made exceptional progress as a young meat manager and was considered exceptional by the judging panel.
"I'm overwhelmed and delighted. Little did I know when I joined Soanes Poultry aged 18 what the future held. To be promoted to MD and to win this award in the space of a year is amazing. Thanks to everyone who has supported me on my journey," said Mr Lee.
The awards were presented at a black-tie dinner that was hosted by ventriloquist and America's Got Talent winner, Paul Zerdin. The awards are organised byMeat Managementmagazine and are the biggest meat industry awards celebration in the UK.
Soanes Poultry was founded by Tom Soanes and has been rearing and preparing chicken for 75 years. It sells chicken to butchers and independent retailers throughout Yorkshire and to wholesalers and catering butchers nationwide.
