North Yorkshire family businesses collaborate on summer recipes
Two Malton based family businesses have collaborated to create recipes that celebrate Yorkshire produce.
The team at Thixendale based Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil have created a series of recipes using pasta made from English wheat by fellow Malton business, The Yorkshire Pasta Company to celebrate provenance.
The recipes include Lemony Courgette, Caper and Herb Pasta Salad, Roasted Aubergine, Olive and Tomato Pasta and Baked Seafood Tortiglioni and Cheese.
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's Marketing Manager, Jennie Palmer explained the rationale for the recipe creation: "Here at YRO, we're passionate about introducing our customers to other fabulous Yorkshire producers. Over the years we have found that the best way to do this is to create recipes that encourage people to try the fabulous food that we have on our doorstep.
"The Yorkshire Pasta Company is just 10 miles away in Yorkshire's Food Capital, Malton, so is close to home. We love Kathryn and Thomas Bumby's passion for provenance, their desire to bring artisanal pasta making to Yorkshire and their recyclable paper packaging."
Mrs Bumby said: "Growing up a farmer's daughter in Yorkshire's Food Capital gave me a great insight into where food comes from and the importance of quality ingredients.
"It was great to taste the recipes created by the team at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and know that they put as much love, care and passion into their products as we do - you really can taste it in the dishes.
"We particularly loved theLemony Courgette, Caper and Herb Pasta Salad that is made using Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's newYorkshire Mayonnaise with Lemon and will be our go to supper dish this summer."
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by the Palmer family on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range ofoils, dressings and mayonnaisebased on their award-winning Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil that ispressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.
The Yorkshire Pasta Company was founded in 2019 after Kathryn and her husband, Thomas hit on the idea of making a premium British pasta whilst walking in the Lake District. Farmer's daughter, Kathryn used product development skills honed at Nestlé to devise a recipe for a pasta using British wheat. The Yorkshire Pasta Company's fans include celebrated Yorkshire born chef, James Martin.
