SUNDOWN SOLUTIONS HOST WORK EXPERIENCE STUDENTS IN A CYBER TECHNOLOGY BOOTCAMP

Hyndburn-based tech company, Sundown Solutions, has once again showed its commitment to supporting local future talent, by hosting six Year 10 work experience students from QUEGS and St Augustine's, in a specially designed cyber technology bootcamp at its office in Altham.

Sundown Solutions have an ethos for recruitment, based around determination and drive. They believe that if you have good core skills which make you a good employee, they can teach you all you need to know in terms of technical skills, to be able to work for them in the fields of cyber security and technology.

The bootcamp was designed to take students through the basics of coding, using the coding game Warrior JS, to give the students an insight into the technical side of Sundown Solutions. Just as importantly, they were taken through lessons in confidence building, interview skills, and communication skills - the people skills required to be a good employee. Sophie Smith, Service Delivery Manager for Sundown Solutions, was on hand to take the students through how to run a service smoothly, by speaking to the customers, and delivering what the customer needs in the end process.

Gary Smith, Fulfilment Manager at Sundown Solutions, explained: "During this week we've used Warrior JS to give the students an introduction to coding, what you can do with coding, and how it can expand into bigger and better things. We've also got the students to put together a presentation about Sundown Solutions and present it back to the group. They've been a really good group. They've really engaged well, and I think they're going to do well when they leave school. They have good attitudes, all of them, and it's been a great week!"

Kelly-Ann Groves, Chief Operating Officer at Sundown Solutions, added: "We finished off the week with some Xbox gaming, not just for fun. It's designed to give an insight into the capabilities of the minds of the students, and what their skills are. We've talked about basic interview skills, and what it's like to be a good employee. I'm really pleased with how they've responded and enjoyed the sessions, and I hope to see them back in the future as employees when they've completed their studies!"

Sundown Solutions is a technology consultancy operating in the fields of digital transformation, software solutions, cyber security and Cloud computing. It has recently partnered with Accrington-based training provider North Lancs Training Group (NLTG) to ensure it recruits local people with drive and determination.

The NHS, National Audit Office, Capita and Takeda Pharmaceuticals are just some of Sundown Solutions' blue-chip clients.
