TOWNFIELD MOBILITY SPONSOR SHIRTS FOR LANCASHIRE SPITFIRES POWERCHAIR FOOTBALL TEAM

Hyndburn based residential and at-home care service providers, Townfield Mobility, have generously sponsored brand new football shirts for Lancashire's first ever Powerchair football team.

The Lancashire Spitfires, who train and play at the Adrenaline Sports Centre in Haslingden, currently have 12-14 players on their Powerchair team, a form of football played in an electric powered wheelchair.

The chairs currently used by the Spitfires were donated to them by the Bolton Bullets Powerchair team, but now becoming obsolete, the Club is in desperate need of more funding to purchase new chairs.

Warren Jones, Founder of Lancashire Spitfires, commented: "We can't thank Townfield Mobility enough for their support, generosity and for helping us make this team.

"The challenges which we have got at the moment are that we only have a certain amount of chairs, which have been generously donated by Bolton Bullets.

"However because the Club is thriving and growing at a ridiculous rate, we've had two who have come down today and unfortunately there's no chairs for them to be in, so they haven't been able to play.

"We are in need of funding to be able to buy more chairs. Every £4,000 donated means another kid playing football and every child deserves that."

Lancashire Spitfires are looking to raise £80,000 to fund 10 new Powerchairs and if you want to contribute, donations can be made via the Lancashire Spitfires Powerchair football GoFundMe page:https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/francesca-dean

Michael Timmins, Director at Townfield Mobility, said: "We are really proud to be able to do our bit for the Lancashire Spitfires and the work that they do down here is incredible.

"The Club does need further support however and we encourage other businesses like ourselves to donate whatever they can. It really can make a huge  difference to someone's life."

The Lancashire Spitfires Powerchair team was founded in March 2022 by Jones, following its initial launch in 2020, initially as a place to encourage girls to become involved in sport.

Jones' passion to form a Powerchair team came as a result of his role as a support worker for Lancashire Spitfires player Reece Taylor, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, and thinking of a way to get him involved in sport.
