Regeneration Bill
Today (June 8) sees the
Levelling-Up and Regeneration Bill get its Second Reading.
The Right-to-Buy Expansion is expected to be announced tomorrow (Thursday
9 June).

Regarding the Levelling-Up
and Regeneration Bill, Allan Fuller says:
"We’re hearing many noble words for this much proclaimed
new Act of Parliament, which is full of good ideas, but how will it
work in reality? Will it remove rafts of bureaucracy or create greater
confusion and cost?
We will have to find out more details before we can judge.
One aspect that could affect all property owners is the new
‘street vote’ - a sort of ‘Power to the People’. This might stop an incongruous
monster extension or loft conversion, which seems perfectly reasonable. However, will
it provide an opportunity for neighbours to object without good reason? People
can have a ‘knee jerk’ reaction to any form of change.
The devil, as they say, will be in the details but sometimes the
best of intentions can have unforeseen consequences.”
