Hashtag Press enjoys successful LBF & announces new MG book out for Halloween!

Hello!

Female-led, indie publisher Hashtag Press Ltd has enjoyed a very successful, if not quieter than usual, London Book Fair with a capacity-filled panel event in the Olympia Theatre yesterday (https://www.londonbookfair.co.uk/en-gb/whats-on/seminar-programme/programme/sessions-details.2568.145407.independent-women-the-tale-of-three-start_ups.html). And the company that specialises in diverse and inclusive books, and this month celebrates its fifth birthday, has bought the UK & Commonwealth rights to a spooky middle grade fiction called The Twig Man by Kudish-born Sana Rasoul, acquired from Chloe Seager at Madeleine Milburn. More information about this new book, Hashtag Press, or the two women who co-founded it (prize-winning book publicist Helen Lewis and award-winning author Abiola Bello), please get in touch.

Thanks,
Becky Smith

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM:Hashtag Press (www.hashtagpress.co.uk) has acquiredUK & Commonwealth rights to a spooky middle grade fiction from Chloe Seager at Madeleine Milburn. The Twig Man by Sana Rasoul will be released by the indie publisher in October 2022 - just in time for the nights to start drawing in ahead of Halloween.

Abiola Bello, co-director at Hashtag Press, says: "The Twig Man really stood out to us as we love middle grade fiction and had been looking for something a bit spooky and original. Sana is a really talented writer and we're excited to launch her debut novel. This genre is clearly lacking in diversity and we want to address that by bringing out books with characters all children can see themselves in."

Helen Lewis, co-director at Hashtag Press, says: "We believe there's a lot of interest amongst children for hair-raising stories that keep readers on the edge of their seats but are age appropriate. The Twig Man combines elements of the classic ghost story with themes such as friendship, family and self-discovery. We think it's going to be a big hit with young readers."

Chloe Seager, literary agent at Madeleine Milburn, says: "Sana's middle-grade debut is truly spine-tingling and the kind of book kids will want to stay up late reading under the covers with a torch. I can't wait for readers to meet Ari!"

Sana Rasoul, author of The Twig Man, says: "I am thrilled to be working with Hashtag Press on my debut novel The Twig Man. I devoured spooky tales as a kid and I cannot wait for readers to follow Ari as he navigates the woods in search of his sister. It's important children of all backgrounds see themselves reflected in stories, and I hope this book goes some way in doing that. As always, I am indebted to my amazing agent Chloe Seager for her guidance and passion throughout this journey."

Beware the Twig Man, the Twig Man's hex. Beware the Twig Man, or you'll be NEXT!

It's been a year since nearly-twelve-year-old Ari's older sister, Tinker, ran away.

Except Ari knows what really happened.

She was taken by the Twig Man, the creepy monster that's haunted the woods for one hundred years.

No one else will listen, so it's down to Ari to save her.

But he had better hurry, as Ari finds himself next on The Twig Man's list...
