Brodgale Collections in Kent recruiting orchard tour guides

Dear newsdesk,

With the pandemic allowing us to open properly again in 2022, Brogdale is recruiting for tour guides to take visitors around the fruit orchards.
We are looking for people with an interest in farming, who can share the history of the National Fruit collection knowledgeably and passionately.

Any help you can give to help us to recruit, and reach people who might be interested in applying, would be very much appreciated.

Please get in touch if you require any further information.

Best wishes,

Wanted - fruit & farming enthusiasts at Brogdale Collections

Charity organisation Brogdale Collections, home to one of the world's largest fruit collections, is seeking seasonal fruit collection tour guides to support its vital educational work.

Working flexible hours from April to October among 160 acres of beautiful Kentish orchards, this is a wonderful opportunity for a knowledgeable fruit expert to join us to share their knowledge and our heritage.
Our current guides are retired farmers, education or commercial fruit experts who want to share their lifelong passion and carry on the stories, history and wonderful facts about orchards and farming.

With thousands of visitors enjoying the collections each year, potential guides should demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for the fantastic living heritage of more than 3,000 fruit tree varieties on the farm.

Although particularly suited to applicants experienced in the fruit industry, agronomy or farming, full training will be provided.

Jobs include:
Daily guided walks of the fruit collections
Dealing with customer fruit enquiries and offering advice
Delivering talks on fruit to local clubs and societies
Leading private group tours for international industry associations
Supporting our season of festivals and events

Sara Smile, operations manager at Brogdale, comments, "Our guides are an essential part of our team, bringing to life the world of fruit tree heritage for our valued visitors. With climate change and sustainability top of the news agenda, this is a great opportunity to play a part in educating the public on this significant issue.

"Many of our guides are retired farmers who have a wealth of knowledge but the most important requirements are an interest in fruit growing and willing to learn and share.

"We would love to welcome more fruit fanatics to our friendly team!"

The role is based in Faversham with a starting date of April 2022, paying National Minimum Wage p/h.
Applications are open now:
