North Yorkshire farm shop launches ‘Guilt Free' ready meals

The catering team at an award-winning Pickering farm shop have created a range of low-calorie ready meals.

Available exclusively from the Cedarbarn farm shop in Pickering, the initial ‘Guilt Free' range of four calorie counted dishes includes Smoky Aberdeen Angus Beef Goulash, Sweet Potato, Lentil and Coconut Vegan Curry, Pork and Butternut Squash Meatballs with a Tomato and Fennel Sauce and aChicken, Celeriac and Butterbean Stew.

"The restaurant quality meals are made by our chefs using home reared Aberdeen Angus beef, outdoor reared pork from Trotters, chicken from Nidderdale Poultry and fresh local and seasonal ingredients where possible," said Mandy Avison, co-owner of Cedarbarn with husband, Karl who has been rearing Aberdeen Angus cattle for over 20 years.

"In true Yorkshire style, the portions are generous, but each delicious and nutritious meal contains fewer than 375 calories. They're perfect for people who are watching their calorie intake, but who don't want to compromise on taste. In addition to being low calorie, they contain less than 4% fat and are additive free. The Beef Goulash, Chicken and Butterbean Stew and the Vegan Curry are also gluten free."

The Guilt Free meals are available fresh or frozen, are suitable for microwave or oven cooking and cost £3.99 each.

Cedarbarn Farm Shop, Café and Miniature Railway began was established as a small PYO business by fourth generation farmer, Karl and Mandy in 1995. The produce in the shop and the menu in the café follows the farming year, from asparagus in the spring through strawberries, raspberries, plums, apples  and rhubarb to pumpkins in the autumn.
