The Third Diverse Book Awards - Open For Nominations on 13thJanuary!

#TheDBAwards

London, United Kingdom, January 12th2022:Now in its third year, The Diverse Book Awards officially opens this week to nominations from UK-based publishers and authors, for diverse and inclusive books published any time during 2021.

The 2022 awards process officially begins on Thursday 13thJanuary 2022, hot on the heels of the incredible success of last year's Diverse Book Awards, which saw Benjamin Zephaniah's Windrush Child (Scholastic Children's Books) win best Children's Book, Manjeet Mann's Run, Rebel (Penguin Random House Children's) win best YA Book, and Tammye Huf's A More Perfect Union (Myriad Editions) win best Adult's Book. The unique and inclusive awards celebrate the incredible talent here in the UK and showcase the best books in Children's, YA and Adult Fiction published in 2021.

The awards are free to enter and are open to books regardless of their route to publication, therefore self-published authors are invited to nominate their own books, and indie, collaborative, hybrid and traditional publishers are all welcome at the table!

To submit your book for nomination visit: https://www.thediversebookawards.co.uk/entertheawards

The longlist will be announced in July 2022, the shortlist in September 2022 and the winners in October 2022.

Last year, more than 130 submissions (up from 50 in 2020) were received for the 2021 Diverse Book Awards, created by writing community The Author School (www.theauthorschool.com). This year, the co-founders - award-winning children's/YA author Abiola Bello and prize-winning publicist Helen Lewis - are predicting this number will tip the 150-mark.

Helen Lewis and Abiola Bello, co-founders of The Author School and The Diverse Book Awards, say:"In 2021, we saw the continued impact of the pandemic on publication dates and bookshop sales but we also know of many amazing diverse and inclusive books that were released by self-published authors through to those published by the Big 5. We hope that following the success of our second year, more and more authors and publishers feel compelled to nominate the books that represent their understanding of and appreciation for truly diverse and inclusive stories. We have an amazing line-up of judges ready to read submissions and incredible prizes for the ultimate winners. Being recognised in initiatives such as The Diverse Book Awards can have a hugely positive impact on the sales of a book, the profile of an author and build a buzz around a publisher. If you're a UK-based author/publisher and released a brilliant diverse and inclusive book in 2021... what are you waiting for?"
