Yorkshire whisky distillery launches rare sherry cask special release
The team at Yorkshire's first single malt whisky distillery have launched a second limited-edition whisky that has been fully matured in ex-sherry casks.
Spirit of Yorkshire's Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #2 is a rich and spicy whisky that has been matured exclusively in sherry casks.
Of the launch, Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery Whisky Director, Joe Clark said: "Back in 2017, we laid down a number of first-fillPedro Ximenez (PX) casksthat have been quietly maturing in our warehouse here on the Yorkshire Coast ever since. After four years, the spirit inside was tasting fantastic, so we chose a select few to create a rare and unrepeatable whisky for our autumn/winter Special Release.
"PX is amongst the sweetest and richest sherry wines in the world with aromas of honey, jam, raisins and candied fruits. Our 100% pot distilled spirit has extracted these flavours from the wood beautifully over the past four years, creating a rich and spicy single malt that is perfect for cold, dark evenings."
Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #2's tasting notes are ‘richand fruity with flavours of baked apples, cinder toffee, chocolate orange and fruit cake.'
Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #2 costs £70 for a 70cl bottle and only 2000 are available. They are on sale now from the distillery shop, selected specialist retailers, Booths Country Stores and online at spiritofyorkshire.com.
Spirit of Yorkshire is a field to bottle single malt whisky distillery that was launched in 2016. It is also home to the Pot Still Coffee Shop.
Tours of the distillery include tastings of Yorkshire's first single malt whisky and take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm Monday to Saturday and 11am and 1pm on Sunday.
