VENUE SUGGESTIONS WANTED FOR CHANGING PLACES TOILETS

People in Middlesbrough are being asked to suggest places which might benefit from the installation of a Changing Places toilet.

Changing Places toilets are 3m x 4m and are larger than a standard wheelchair accessible toilet and offer a ceiling track hoist, changing bed, a shower and plenty of room for carers and family members to assist adults and children with physical disabilities.

They make a huge difference to families being able to enjoy going out together and provide a dignified toilet facility for those with disabilities.

Middlesbrough has more than ten Changing Places Toilets in a variety of locations including leisure centres, day centres, My Place, Middlesbrough Bus Station, Riverside Stadium, James Cook Hospital, Stewart Park and the latest installation being at Newham Grange Farm.

Middlesbrough Council has looked at various locations for Changing Places over a number of years to find ideal sites such as these however sometimes a site which would otherwise be appropriate can be held back by a lack of space. 

The Government recently announced a £30 million fund for local authorities to increase the number of Changing Places toilets across the country.

As a result Middlesbrough Council has launched a brief consultation survey for people to suggest additional Changing Places toilets locations via the linkhttps://arcg.is/1urLCP1
