SO AESTHETICS HELPS YOU TAKE BACK CONTROL WITH STEROID KNEE INJECTIONS AT THEIR WORCESTER CLINIC

Following on from the addition of two new clinical treatment rooms at their Worcester Clinic, SO Aesthetics continue to develop on the strength of its clinical treatment portfolio with the welcome addition of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Andrew Pearse to the clinical team.

A resident surgeon at Worcestershire's Spire South Bank Hospital, Mr Andrew Pearse specialises in all aspects of knee surgery: arthroscopy, ligament replacement, sports knee injuries and joint pain treatment.

Now, post-pandemic Mr Pearse and injectable medical experts SO Aesthetics have teamed up to offer a ‘Joint Injection Clinic' at the recently renovated, Covid-19 Risk Assessed SO Aesthetics Clinic on Carden Street, Worcester. A simple injection costing £125 including consultation can alleviate the intense knee pain caused by arthritis for up to 3 months.

NHS waiting lists for routine operations have hit record levels because of the COVID-19 pandemic, after hospitals postponed thousands of 'non-urgent' procedures to deal with an influx of Covid patients. Figures suggest there are around 160,000 hip and knee replacements in England and Wales each year.

"The NHS has taken critical safety measures since the Covid-19 pandemic" explains Mr Pearse. "Joint injections were stopped because of the risk of reduced immunity following the injection and the impact it could have if the patient were subsequently to contract Covid-19" Pearse continues.

Since the pandemic, a backlog of patients waiting has subsequently built up which added to an already 6-month long waiting list; however, SO Aesthetics "gives patients the chance to take back control of their life with a simple 15-minute appointment and injection", says Pearse.

SO Aesthetics new Joint Injection Clinic offers patients pain relieving injections, immediately available.Under aseptic technique in medical treatment rooms, patients will be injected with a blend of local anaesthetic and steroid which aims to relieve arthritic pain for up to 12 weeks. Patients will have an immediate benefit from the local anaesthetic, and the steroid injection will take 24 to 72 hours to take full effect. It is a well-recognised, safe and widely used treatment to combat the pain of arthritis and give patients freedom and mobility back in their daily lives.

"You could or you should be pain-free and that is an empowering thing." Says Mr Pearse. "Relieving knee pain gives people a better way of life, helping them to exercise, helping their heart, their lungs and their mental wellbeing. There are different motivations aside from pain relief for steroid injections. For example, I have recently helped a male senior who wanted to continue training for marathons and boxing, but his arthritic knee was preventing him from enjoying a continued and extended active life, he practically left here with a skip and a jump and posted how happy he was on social media with of photo of him happily back in the gym."

SO Aesthetics founder Dr Matt Davis commented. "Overall, it's a testament to the hard work of our growing SO Aesthetics team and how we have managed to keep growing and developing the business during such a difficult year where, like many, we have had to shut our doors for weeks on end. Covid-19 has resulted in a frustrating period, but we have used the time wisely to keep improving what we can offer clients and patients who want to look and feel better, and all conducted in our state of the art, safe and modern clinic here in the heart of the city." Davis concluded.

Respected globally, Mr Pearse took an International Fellowship in Sports and Reconstructive Knee Surgery at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, before working as a Consultant at the renowned Wrightington Hospital. He has since returned to Worcestershire to run the popular "Orthopedics Made Easy" one-day course aimed at General Practitioners through the Royal College of General Practitioners.
