WORKS TO COMMENCE ON MIDDLESBROUGH FOOTBRIDGE
WORKS to repair a damaged Middlesbrough footbridge will take place tomorrow (Saturday, June 19).
The bridge, often referred to as "the blue bridge" which links Linby Avenue off Overdale Road in Park End/Berwick Hills, to James Cook University Hospital and its train halt, was closed to pedestrians last month as a precaution due to a small amount of damage.
Repairs are required to six concrete slabs on the bridge. If the works go to plan without any unforeseen issues arising, it is hoped the footbridge will reopen on Sunday (June 20).
Subsequently, further inspections will be carried out as it is believed further structural improvements may be needed in the future.
Any future works requiring additional closure of the footbridge will be announced well in advance of commencing.
