New broadband HQ reflects ambition, innovation and fun

Broadband civils and fibre specialist Lanes Infrastructure has opened stunning new HQ offices that set unrivalled standards in workplace design and effectiveness in the telecoms industry.

The exciting, flexible and highly collaborative working space aims to appeal to the young, talented engineers, project managers and support personnel needed to support the company's plans for rapid growth.

The 9,100 sq ft space has been designed to meet Lanes Infrastructure's specific needs and includes break-out benches decked in plants, sound-proofed work pods, a rest and play games room, and a high specification food and drinks bar with sofa seating.

Lanes Infrastructure Chief Executive Andy Brierley said: "We've created the best possible telecoms HQ because we want to recruit the best possible teams to deliver the highest quality service.

"We're committed to providing our clients with the most innovative, highest performing infrastructure service in the UK and our new HQ fits that ethos perfectly.

"The space is light, airy, colourful, digitally connected and very practical. I believe it'll also be an inspiring and fun place to work. If work's not fun as well as fulfilling, what's the point of doing it?"

Lanes Infrastructure is majority owned by national water utility, drainage and rail maintenance specialist Lanes Group plc.

It has invested £800,000 in its new HQ at Cathedral Square in Guildford, Surrey, which has space for up to 100 people, including significant hot desking capacity and a large training room.

The company has begun installing broadband fibre ducting in four urban areas - Brighton and Hove, Crawley and Horsham, Eastbourne, and Chatham and Gillingham - on behalf of CityFibre.

City Fibre is investing £4bn to roll out full fibre broadband to an estimated 8 million premises in 60+ towns and cities across the UK over the next seven years.

Lanes Infrastructure Managing Director David Roberts said: "Lanes has built its reputation in the water utility industry on innovation and smart service delivery and is taking this approach into the telecoms infrastructure market.

"To do this we want to attract most talented people into our team which is why providing an exciting place to work is so important. But this is just one expression of our approach."

Thanks to a £13m investment programme, operational teams are also getting the best training, equipment and facilities to support their work, including the most advanced mobile washrooms and welfare units on the market.

David Roberts said: "We're also investing in new ways to support our clients. For example, all our brand new vans have external LED screens for communicating messages to local communities in any configuration, by project area, by street or even down to one van.

"Our aim is to break the mould in our industry and we're pleased to find our partners are delighted with our approach."
