FLYTIPPER ACCEPTS £400 FINE SAYING "YEAH, FAIR ENOUGH"

A FLYTIPPER held his hands up and said "yeah, fair enough" when confronted by a Middlesbrough Council neighbourhood safety warden.

The incident occurred on Friday, January 29 at around 5pm when a white transit type van was captured on CCTV arriving at an entrance to Metz Bridge Caravan site.

The footage then shows the vehicle reversing to an area where there is already abandoned waste on the ground and a person then gets out of the van and empties a mattress onto the pile.

Further items are then fly-tipped before the driver shuts the back doors, gets back in the van and drives away from the mess.

An investigation found the registered keeper of the van, while additional inquiries by a Middlesbrough Council Neighbourhood Safety Warden put him in touch with the alleged perpetrator who agreed to meet him on Monday, February 8.

When confronted with the evidence of his fly-tipping, the man - a builder by trade and not a registered waste carrier - told the warden: "OK yeah, fair enough, it's my van yeah."

The 37-year-old admitted fly-tipping a mattress and empty builder's bags, accepted he had no lawful authority to do so and had been paid in diesel to dispose of the waste.

The warden advised he would be issued with a £400 fixed penalty notice which the guilty party accepted. The fine has since been paid.
