Beginning Whit Bank Holiday, New Craftsman Gallery St Ives present Between Land and Sea, and exhibition of 50 new works by landscape painter Martha Holmes. Inspired by the beautiful Penwith coastline, Martha's new collection explores the relationship between land and sea at the point where the bright, optimistic greens of Cornwall's rural landmass meet the deep, dramatic blues of the Atlantic Ocean. In each of these works, the solid board surface beneath Martha's semi abstracted marks becomes integrated with the work itself, by way of texture and a strong ground of colour, becoming part of the painting's dynamic, like the stone beneath the soft layers of a landscape which are suggested only through colour and simple shape.

Also on show is new work by ceramicist Chris Keenan. Chris is an internationally recognized potter specialising in Limoges porcelain, and his hand thrown tableware is designed to enhance the pleasure of simple domestic rituals.  In this collection of bottles, beakers and ceramic spheres his regular palette of mirror-black and rust-coloured tenmokus is enhanced by the addition of striking deep reds.
