REMINDER ISSUED ON PARKING IN MIDDLESBROUGH TOWN CENTRE

A REMINDER is being issued to motorists heading into Middlesbrough town centre that parking charges still apply.

Charges were re-introduced to Middlesbrough Council operated car parks and on-street bays on Monday, August 24 following a five-month hiatus and remain in place now during the current Covid-19 restrictions.

The authority also continues to offer three hours free parking at the Captain Cook Square and Ferry Road car parks and visitors are reminded that a free ticket needs to be obtained from the ticket machine and clearly displayed in their vehicle.

Cleansing of ticket machines has increased since the coronavirus outbreak began last March although motorists are advised to continue to take precautions such as hand cleansing or use the cashless RingGo mobile phone payment system.

Enforcement of parking, waiting and loading restrictions continues for road safety and traffic management reasons and to ensure turnover of spaces close to those businesses and services open during the current restrictions.
