Hoppecke excels in motive power sector

In a weak market, December 2020 proved to be a very strong month for Hoppecke Industrial Batteries, as it achieved over 200 per cent of its target for motive power.
Whilst the motive power batteries market is down around 25 per cent for the year to date, Hoppecke has coped well both with the coronavirus and post-Brexit trading storms.
After a busy Christmas period order levels for January and February 2021 are well ahead of projections, whilst in the rail sector demand is also extremely high.
Hoppecke's General Manager Stuart Browne says: "Our priority is to look after our customers and everyone is simply getting on with the job. Whilst some office staff are operating remotely, due to lockdown restrictions, our production team is at full strength and working on site. All necessary precautions are in place to keep everyone safe."
In spite of Covid-19 and the uncertainties surrounding trade with the European Union (EU) following Brexit, it is business as usual at Hoppecke. All staff have been retained, enhancing stability, and the company has recruited an extra temporary member of staff to support its warehouse operation.
Hoppecke has been planning for life after Brexit for some time. Last autumn, when it was still unclear whether the UK would agree a trade deal with the EU, the company chose to increase its stock levels. By bringing in extra products and components over a period of several weeks, Hoppecke avoided the blockages at UK ports in the run-up Christmas 2020. This has proved to be an important decision, enabling a seamless transition and ensuring no adverse impact on business performance or customer service come January 1.
Stuart adds: "I'm really proud of our team. In these challenging times everyone is staying focused and upbeat.
