INTERNATIONAL ARTIST SUPPORTS THE GROWING NEEDS OF THE CREATIVE SECTOR

An internationally acclaimed artist whose paintings hang in the White House has been appointed as an ambassador for the Haven + London, a charity and social enterprise set up to support the growing needs of creatives and artists in the capital and beyond.

Janice Sylvia Brock's painting career started in hospital where she spent most of her adolescence, suffering from severe rheumatoid arthritis. In spite of her physical challenges, her success has been stellar. She has exhibited in London's world-famous Saatchi Gallery; a private showing of her work was attended by HRH The Prince of Wales, and her work hangs in private collections across the world.

Led by the inspirational Rev Peterson Feital, the  Haven + London provides services and resources to meet the unique challenges and needs facing people working in the creative industries and offers emotional, spiritual and professional support including ongoing pastoral care, professional counselling, networking opportunities, personal development workshops and training opportunities, creative conferences and research. Since 2016, the charity has helped over 2000 creatives and given counselling, pastoral care and chaplaincy support to over 500 people.

Commenting on her new appointment, Janice says: "Many people have turned to the creative sector for comfort and inspiration during these difficult times.

"The Haven + London is the only UK charity dedicated solely to the spiritual and mental well-being of the creative community; meeting the specific needs of this fragile but vital community where debt, addictions, depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicides are rife."

Janice will be joining the likes of Morris Pleasure, who has performed with and been musical director for many luminaries from the world of jazz, R & B and pop including, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, Ray Charles, Christina Aguilera and Bette Midler, and Dave Hogan, celebrity photographer and a stalwart of the red carpet, concerts and A-list party scene all over the world taking photos of the likes of the Rolling Stones, Madonna, U2, Tom Cruise, Take That, and MTV.

Speaking about the new appointment, Rev. Peterson Feital says: "We are hugely honoured that Janice has agreed to join our team of high profile ambassadors who have experienced first-hand why the work The Haven + London is so important."

"Having people like Janice on board to help build a community where religion and the arts intentionally come together in a relevant, contemporary, vibrant, engaging and reflective way is wonderful."

Janice's ambassador role for the charity will include organising a major fundraising event next year as well as working with and mentoring other artists.
