A south Shropshire nursing home has new owners. The Sandford Nursing Home, accommodating up to 35 residents in Church Stretton has been acquired by Care Plus  a not-for-profit care provider operating across Shropshire and Staffordshire.

The Sandford is a leading care home in the area and has been consistently rated as good by the Care Quality Commission  which inspects independent health care provision in England.

Les Clarke, executive director of care and support explained that staff at The Sandford will continue to work there and be employed by Care Plus. "We are very pleased that all of the staff working at The Sandford will be joining Care Plus, to carry on providing the high standard of care and support that is so important to the people who live there and their families," he said.

"There are many, many more of us living to old age and we will all want high quality health and social care. We offer a wider range of support, to enable people to live as independently as possible. The purchase of The Sandford allows Care Plus to offer greater choice; From the reassurance of telecare support to purpose-built retirement living communities, high quality care in your own home and now residential and nursing accommodation."

Managing 53 retirement living communities and providing at-home care and support for customers throughout Shropshire and Staffordshire, Care Plus is part of Housing Plus Group  a not-for-profit organisation with a strong commitment to making a positive difference in local communities. The Group also includes social landlords Severnside Housing, South Staffordshire Housing Association and Stafford and Rural Homes. The Group owns 18,000 homes and employs 860 people in Shropshire and Staffordshire.
