Yorkshire's first whisky distillery hosts its first virtual music session
One of the many consequences of the Coronavirus pandemic has been the cancellation of live music sessions at Yorkshire's first whisky distillery. Undeterred, the team at Spirit of Yorkshire, home to Filey Bay single malt whisky, have turned to the internet to host a virtual music session.
Celebrated Driffield singer-songwriter, Edwina Hayes was due to play live at the Hunmanby based distillery on 29thMay and will be the first musician to join the distillery team for a free Facebook Live session on 9thJuly.
The virtual performance has been organised by Spirit of Yorkshire's Head of Marketing, Jenni Ashwood: "Since the beginning of lockdown, Edwina has been hosting regular online sessions that have been sounding great, so we're very excited that she can play for us on 9thJuly. She has played at the distillery many times and she always sells out quickly."
Ms. Hayes has opened numerous shows for Jools Holland and Van Morrison and has played stages everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall. Her cover of the Randy Newman song ‘Feels Like Home' was featured in the Cameron Diaz film, ‘My Sister's Keeper'.
The distillery shop reopened on 15thJune and distillery tours will resume mid-July, but the Pot Still Coffee Shop remains closed until further notice.
