Remarkable Driffield brewery wins tourism award

The team at a Wold Newton brewery is celebrating after winning an award the prestigious Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTA).

Wold Top Brewery beat stiff competition, including fellow drinks businesses Atom Brewing Co., Hotham's Distillery and Humber Street Distillery Co. to win the Remarkable Local Producer category of the 11th annual awards that celebrate Hull and East Yorkshire's tourism and associated industries.

Run by tourism body, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY), the REYTAs recognise the best and brightest in the area's tourism related businesses and acknowledge the contribution they make to the area's visitor economy.

Despite the cancellation of the awards ceremony that should have taken place at Bridlington Spa in March, organisers went ahead with a virtual ceremony across Visit Hull and East Yorkshire's Facebook and YouTube channels that was viewed by several hundred people.

Of the win, the brewery'sDirector for Exports and Business Development, Kate Balchinsaid: "VHEY did a great job of hosting a virtual ceremony; we really enjoyed it. We're naturally delighted with the win and it has given the team a real boost at a time when we're working tirelessly to satisfy online orders."

Farm-based Wold Top Brewery brews cask, keg and bottled ales from home and Wolds grown malting barley, hops and pure, chalk-filtered Yorkshire Wolds water. Its bottled beer is currently available online and through local convenience stores and multiple retailers.
