The team at an East Yorkshire poultry business are celebrating after winning a prestigious food industry award.

Middleton-on-the-Wolds based poultry business Soanes Poultry won the award for its Yorkshire Grain Fed Chicken in the Best Poultry Product category in the annualFood Management TodayIndustry awards.

The winners of the awards were announced this week at a celebratory luncheon at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington that was hosted bycelebrity chef, TV presenter and restauranteur Michel Roux Junior.

The award is the latest in a string of awards for Soanes Poultry who were awarded gold stars at the Guild of Fine Foods 2019 Great Taste Awards for itsYorkshire grain fed chicken and chicken supreme.

Soanes Poultry's FD, Claire Wright and Head of Sales and Marketing Ben Lee collected the award on behalf of the team. Mrs Wright said: "We're delighted that the industry has acknowledged the superior taste of our chicken.

It's always great to win consumer awards like the Great Taste stars, but to know that your industry peers value your products highly is also very rewarding.

"We are dedicated to the provenance of our product, our exacting animal welfare standards and sustainable chicken rearing, so we're very proud to win this award."

The annualFood Management TodayIndustry Awards are a celebration of the creativity, innovation and excellence of the British food industry and are chosen by Food Management Today's readers together with a select judging panel for product evaluation.

Food Management Today editor, Pam Brook, said: "These annual Awards are eagerly anticipated and have become a great success story. They are truly unique and represent the highest standards in product, service and innovation across the sector. The Awards offer a brilliant opportunity to recognise the work that is going on and the progress being achieved in so many areas. To have Michel Roux Jr as our ceremony host is also a massive boost and endorsement for us."

The announcement comes on the back of the news that Soanes Poultry has been shortlisted for Producer of the Year in the Garbutt and Elliott Food and Drink Business Awards and in the Remarkable Local Producer category of the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs).

Soanes Poultry is a family owned business that has been rearing and preparing chicken for 73 years. It supplies butchers and independent retailers in Yorkshire and wholesalers nationwide.
