Festive shoppers raise funds to the tune of £2500 at a Bradford Garden Centre

Festive shoppers at a Bradford Garden Centre raised almost £2,500 for two local Salvation Army groups in the run up to Christmas.

Salvation Army bands representing both the Bradford Citadel and Morley Corps were invited to entertain shoppers as part of the Garden Centre's annual celebration of Christmas and representatives from the charities were delighted with the outcome.

"The Salvation Army are very grateful to Tong Garden Centre's continued support in allowing us to spread the Joy of Christmas to their customers. We were overwhelmed by the customers' generosity which raised over £1500.00 and allows us to continue our work supporting families in need both at Christmas and throughout the year. Thank you so much." Said Susan Spargo, from Bradford Citadel whilst Richard Weston from Morley Corps echoed Ms. Spargo's sentiments: "Thank you so much to the customers of Tong Garden Centre for the generous donations that they gave whilst we played Christmas Carols. All of the money that was raised will help us to make a difference in our local community in many different ways."

The events were organised by Tong's Tills and Customer Services Manager, Diane Farrar who is looking forward to welcoming the Salvation Army back again this year: "The Salvation Army brass band is an integral part of our festive celebrations that bring joy to our customers and raise valuable funds for this amazing charity."

The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian church and registered charity, which has been fighting against social inequality and transforming lives for over 150 years.

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 14 acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire's biggest garden centres with 110,000 square feet of retail space and parking for up to 700 cars.
