La Riviere Apartments luxury riverside accommodation 38 Minutes from London

Press release

22/10/19

A riverside setting, individual balconies, allocated parking and competitive rents are all features of a new private rental apartment block in Ashford which is helping to meet rising demand for high-quality accommodation in one of the fastest-growing and best connected towns in the south east.

La Riviere Apartments has 28 one and two-bedroom flats available to rent from £850pcm in a peaceful location on the banks of the Great Stour, just a few minutes stroll from the town centre, newly opened leisure facilities, Victoria Park and Ashford's international railway station.

The development comes to market in the same week that Ashford was listed as one of Britain's "thriving communities" in an article in The Times. Ashford was one of 20 places where economies are growing, population rising and house prices buoyant said the paper, quoting research from leading agents Savills. Ashford's inclusion in this "boom town" list was partly because of our fast rail links to the capital - St Pancras is just 38 minutes away.

La Riviere Apartments owned by A Better Choice for Property Ltd, an independent investment company wholly owned by Ashford Borough Council, tasked with generating new revenue streams by the letting of quality residential property on the private market. The properties are managed through A Better Choice Lettings and Property Management.

La Riviere Apartments have 14 one and 14 two-bedroom flats finished to a very high specification, with open plan living areas, fully-tiled bathrooms and built-in wardrobes to each bedroom. Each apartment has its own balcony accessed from the lounge area.

The apartments are opposite another block of luxury flats acquired in the past 12 months by A Better Choice for Property Ltd. La Scierie has the 31 spacious apartments consisting of one and two-bedroom flats accessed from a stunning entrance lobby.

Like its Victoria Crescent stablemate, La Riviere Apartments are an ideal choice for people looking for a slice of affordable luxury in the heart of one of the most vibrant towns in Kent. In addition to the quality of the apartments, location is a major draw. Ashford International station offers unrivalled rail links to London and Europe - regular Eurostar trains whisk passengers to Paris in two hours from this corner of the Garden of England.

The apartments are also close to the town centre and the Ashford Designer Outlet, where a recently-completed £90m expansion has brought dozens of upmarket brands to Ashford. More than £520m is being invested in town centre facilities, including a six-screen Picturehouse boutique cinema, hotel and restaurant complex and a newly opened Curious Brewery and Visitor Centre.

The La Riviere Apartments project was delivered by Leath Park Developments and built by sister company Jenner (Contractors) Ltd.

A Better Choice for Property Ltd was established by Ashford Borough Council in 2014 as an investment company with the aim of building a large portfolio of private rental properties, helping to generate new income to help pay for council services.

Notes for Editors:

How A Better Choice for Property works

The property portfolio currently stands at 98 one, two, three and four bedroom homes, ranging from flats to detached houses and it is actively looking for more across the borough. Blocks of one and two bedroom flats and two and three bedroom houses are being sought.

The company is interested in purchasing off-plan, buying sites for development either outright or in joint venture or buying completed developments. Contact Commercial Development Manager Keith Hollidge at keith@abcproperty.org

The company needs to act quickly in the commercial environment to capitalise on opportunities such as the one at La Riviere, so the council has put in place arrangements for A Better Choice for Property Ltd to make the decisions it needs to in the marketplace.

A finance facility has been approved to enable the company to rapidly expand its property portfolio and operations. The council lends this money to the property company at a market rate, which ensures the company does not have an unfair advantage in the market. A Better Choice for Property Ltd makes money from market rents and the appreciation of its assets.
