PRE-LAUNCH PARTY SUCCESS FOR MACKNADE AT ELWICK PLACE

Press Release
25thSeptember 2019

Acclaimed independent food & drink brand, Macknade, celebrated its forthcoming arrival in Ashford with a pre-launch party outside the new Elwick Place development on Saturday September 14th.

Hundreds of guests were in attendance making the most of the late September sunshine, getting a flavour of what will be on offer when Macknade opens its food & drink hub at Elwick Place later this year.

Award-winning media brand ‘Cene curated the stage line up, with local artists including Samuel Ashton, Nancy Okai & SKIES all performing to a packed crowd of guests.

A team of Macknade's butchers, chefs & cheesemongers were serving up a selection of fantastic dishes at the event, including Mexican piadinas stuffed with pasture-fed meat and local & continental cheese platters. Kentish drinks producers Coxy's Drinks, Dudda's Tun Cider, Simpsons Wine Estate and Curious Brewery were serving up beverages to thirsty guests, as well as Bloss Coffee, who recently opened a new roastery in Ashford.

There was something for all the family to enjoy at the event, with kids face painting on offer for a small donation to Pilgrims Hospice, who provide specialist hospice care to patients and their families in East Kent.

There were also two demonstrations from Macknade's Head Butcher, Simon Maynard, who showed guests how to cook sirloin beef forestiere and roast partridge on a Big Green Egg BBQ.

The team from Macknade's flagship food hall in Faversham were on hand talking to guests about what they should expect when Macknade opens in Ashford, and Managing Director, Stefano Cuomo, took to the stage to talk about Macknade's history & ethos.

Stefano commented, "The atmosphere on Saturday was something else and I am so proud of what was achieved. The sun was shining and all of the guests I spoke to were having a great time. We are excited to bring Macknade to Ashford this year and the event was an important step for us in introducing our brand to the Ashford community, giving them a feel of what Macknade is all about.

Working with so many fantastic businesses that already exist in & around the town to take Ashford to the next level is hugely exciting. Our mission is to create Favourite Places... places that people are proud of and want to be a part of. On Saturday, Ashford certainly felt like that and the love for the town was so evident!

He added, "The event wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful producers & suppliers (many of whom are from Ashford themselves!) and without the help of Ashford Borough Council, Stanhope PLC and the Elwick Place team, who have all been hugely  supportive. I also want to say a big thank you to Joe & Jim from ‘Cene magazine, who did a fantastic job sourcing so many talented local artists and helping create a wonderful vibe on the day; and last but not least, a huge thanks to our own team for delivering such a successful event."

Macknade's Ashford site is due to open later this year. In the meantime, you can visit its Flagship Food Hall on Selling Road in Faversham. For more information and opening times, please visit www.macknade.com.
