A traditional English treat served up by employees at Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) has raised more than £425 for local worthy causes.

At the housing association's headquarters in Parker Court, Stafford, community-spirited staff sold more than100cream teas to colleagues, raising cash for the SARH C.A.R.E.S Foundation.

Named after theorganisation's core values;Communication, Approachable, Respectful, Empowering, and Supportive, the Foundation has already raised thousands of pounds for groups and individuals making a real difference to people living in the area served by SARH.

Organised bySARH Homes Manager Nikki Oldfieldto markNational Cream Tea Day, the annual event has become one of the foundation's biggest fundraisers and saw the sale ofboxes containing tasty treats and a raffle with prizes generously donated by local businesses.

Put together by SARH staff, the boxes contained scones, butter and jam and tea and went down a treat with staff and visitors to Parker Court.

Nikki explained: "We've taken part in National Cream Tea Day for several years now, as it provides a fantastic opportunity to have a little fun while raising money for worthy causes.

"It's fitting that that, by indulging in a small treat, we are really helping some of the most vulnerable in the local community."

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive added: "A huge well done to Nikki and everyone who helped on the day or supported this latest fundraiser  - it really does show that our team really CARES about the communities we serve."
