Yorkshire's first distillery welcomes local folk duo to its monthly music night

 

East Yorkshire duo Jessica Lawson and Phil Simpson will perform at the Spirit of Yorkshire's Distillery Sessions on 30thAugust.

 

Inspired by a love of folk, country and Americana, Jessica and Phil are known throughout Yorkshire for their interesting instrumentation and song-writing and make their second visit to the Hunmanby distillery's venue.

 

Spirit of Yorkshire co-founder, David Thompson is delighted to welcome the duo back to the Pot Still stage after a successful debut last year: "We established themonthly Distillery Sessions to bring the best local music to Hunmanby. Our criteria for selecting artists is that they must be intriguing, different and able to engage the audience and Jessica and Phil fit the bill perfectly.

 

"They'll be playing a selection of their own songs, as well as a few classics that are guaranteed to have the audience singing along."

 

Tickets cost £10 without food; £15.50 with a cheese board or £16.50 with a charcuterie or ploughman's platter. Booking is essential by visitingwww.spiritofyorkshire.co.ukor by calling 01723891758.

 

David and fellow co-founder Tom Mellorshare a love of live music and they specifically designed the Pot Still Coffee Shop so that it could accommodate live music without overpowering the room.

 

Tom said: "Seating just 50 people, The Pot Still Coffee Shop is a small, intimate venue that attracts lovers of live music and good food. Jessica and Phil have supported artists includingEddi Reader, Cara Dillon and Barbara Dickson, so we're honoured that they are coming to perform for our next Distillery Session."

 

Forthcoming events at the Pot Still Coffee Shop include the monthly Jazz and Blues Night with Alastair James on 23rdAugust and Distillery Sessions from Andy Stones on 27thSeptember, Edwina Hayes on 25thOctober, Jack Parker on 29thNovember and York band, Fawn on 27thDecember.

 

In addition to music and pop up food events, visitors to Spirit of Yorkshire can enjoy guided

Tours of the Distillery and home-made refreshments fromthe Pot Still Coffee Shop seven days a week, all year round.
