York pickle business shortlisted for produce and business awards

 

The team at an award winning North Yorkshire pickle business are celebrating after reaching the final in two prestigious awards.

York based Puckett's Pickles has reached the final of the Best Rural Food and Drink category in the North region of the annual Rural Business awardsand has had three products shortlisted in two categories of the Great British Food Awards.

Puckett's Pickles summer limited edition Cucumber and Lemon Pickle and all year round favourite, Carrot and Cardamom have reached the final in the Savoury Preserves category that will be judged by Robert Wight,

Editor-in-chief at The Scots Magazine, whilst Mint Sauce with Lavender has been shortlisted in the Store Cupboard Ingredients category that will be judged by food writer, stylist and broadcaster, Rosie Birkett.

 

Business owner Sarah Puckett is delightedwith the news: "We're passionate about producingwholesomely natural, gloriously colourful and joyfully British pickles, chutneys and condiments and we're delighted that our efforts have been rewarded with places in the final in not one, but two awards."

 

The regional winners of the Rural Business Awards will be announced at a ceremony at Newcastle University on 11thOctober and will go forward to a national final on 27th February, 2020.

 

The Great British Food Awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the country's finest home-grown ingredients. The winners and runners up will be announced to the public on October 17th 2019.

 

Ms Puckett, who started making small batches of pickles in her kitchen in 2013, scaled up her operations in 2017 and now hand makes Yorkshire pickles, chutneys and condiments in a bespoke factory that is dubbed the ‘Pickle Palace'.

 

The Puckett's Pickles range comprises all year round chutneys including Carrot and Cardamom, Puckalilli and Spiced Apple that are complemented with seasonal specials like Beetroot and Seabuckthorn Ketchup, Oriental Carrots and Cucumber and Lemon. All are available from Tom Kerridges's Butcher's Tap, selected farm shops, delis and cheesemongers nationwide and online fromwww.puckettspickles.co.uk.
