A Staffordshire-based club is set to deliver free cricket for children in local authority care thanks to a new sponsorship deal withHowards Chartered Certified Accountants.

The Stafford-based firm has pledged to support Church Eaton Cricket Club as its main sponsor for the next three years.

The sponsorship deal also buys new kit for the T20 tournaments and women's team and will see the Howards logo premiere on banners on the club grounds and club kit while supporting the club's mission of inclusivity.

With the backing of Howards, the club has been able offer free places to those less privileged.

Says Clive Boult, accounts manager at Howards: "Local authority children are under-represented in all areas - both academically and in sporting achievements. We are delighted that our sponsorship will open up opportunities for these less privileged youngsters so that they can benefit from playing cricket."

Victoria Chinchen, club secretary says: "We are enormously grateful to Howards Accountants for its generous sponsorship. The funds provided will enable us to enhance our facilities for both adult and junior cricket at a time when the sport, in a World Cup year, is seeing a growth in popularity. Without Howards' support we simply wouldn't be able to offer free places to the local authority's ‘looked after children'."

Based in the village of Church Eaton, the cricket club has been running for over 50 years, and has doubled its juniors and women's membership over the last two years. The club puts its success down to its friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Being at the heart of the community, it offers a variety of events to encourage local families to engage with the sport in whatever way suits them.

Church Eaton Cricket Club's fixtures and events are open to the public and all spectators are welcome. Find out more on the club's Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/Church-Eaton-Cricket-Club-1835924913108437/
