Historic Leeds venue hosts dinner and whisky tasting event with Yorkshire's first whisky distillery

 

The team at Yorkshire's first whisky distillery is teaming up with an historic Leeds venue for an evening of fine dining and whisky tasting.

 

On 28thJune, The Garden Room at The Mansion in Roundhay Park will host a four course dinner and whisky tasting in conjunction with Hunmanby based Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery.

 

Guests will enjoy adrinks reception followed by a four course dinner, each course paired with Spirit of Yorkshire's Maturing Malts.

 

Spirit of Yorkshire's Whisky Director, Joe Clark will be leading the tastings: "All of our Maturing Malt expressions started life as barley growing in the fields at our farm on the top of the Yorkshire Wolds back in 2015. The barley was transformed into spirit in 2016, and after a sleepy couple of years in our warehouse, it is now yours to enjoy at this unique event."

 

The menu for the evening comprises Carpaccio of Venison Loin, Brown Shrimp Risotto, Slow Cooked Beef Brisket, with Peach and Raspberry Frangipane Tart and coffee to finish.

 

"We're delighted to welcome Joe and his flight of cask samples to The Garden Room at The Mansion and are looking forward to hearing about Spirit of Yorkshire'sunique field-to-bottle whisky-making processand tasting unrepeatable samples of the maturing spirit as it edges ever closer to becoming the first Yorkshire single malt whisky," says Jake Myers, The Mansion's Restaurant Manager

 

The event starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £38.00 and include a four course dinner and samples of the Maturing Malt. They are available by calling 0113 269 1000 or by emailingrestaurant@dine.co.uk.

 

One of Leeds leading wedding and events venue, The Mansion is a Grade II listed Greek Palladian style mansion that is set in over 700 acres of parkland.

 

Spirit of Yorkshire was launched in 2016 and is a collaboration between farmer and brewer, Tom Mellor from Wold Top Brewery and business partner, David Thompson. Yorkshire's first Single Malt Whisky has been maturing for three years and will be bottled in the autumn.
