Neil Davies | First Signs of Spring

This new collection by landscape painter Neil Davies considers the resilience and constancy of nature. Time and again, man makes his mark upon the land - for good or for bad - but given time, nature always reasserts itself, quietly healing scars and reclaiming the landscape. Davies explores the beauty and meaning of this process across Cornwall's Penwith peninsula, painting old cottages, farm buildings and disused engine houses that are crumbling away as ivy and wild vegetation return, against a backdrop of ocean tides which ebb and flow with unstoppable certainty.

Ceramicist Jin Eui Kim's new collection follows on from his 2018 study into the illusory effects of hand-painted tonal bands on the surface of his pots. Now working with tonal clays, his new work is the result of meticulous research and experimental firings, in which black-stained clays are combined in precise layers to create perfect tonal gradation. A series of two-dimensional works are also included in the exhibition, as patterned pieces that can be placed together to create a variety of large-scale artworks.

Also on show is a new work by jeweller Guy Royle. Admired by collectors for their quality and distinctive motifs, Royle's pieces are handcrafted in beaten and etched silver and gold, and set with semi-precious stones.
