Hunmanby distillery welcomes York band to its monthly music night

York based band Maisie and the Thompsons will be making their debut at Spirit of Yorkshire's Distillery Sessions on 26thApril.

Straddling the line between keys-based 70s rock, and vintage adult folk sophistication, Maisie and the Thompsons was formed in 2013 when four musicians met at a the late night jam session at the Wold Top Moonbeams Festival and combined their playing and mixing skills to form a new band that has been playing festivals nationwide ever since.

Spirit of Yorkshire co-founder, David Thompson is delighted to welcome the band to the Pot Still stage for the first time: "We established themonthly Distillery Sessions to bring the best local music to Hunmanby. Our criteria for selecting artists is that they must be intriguing, different and able to engage the audience and Maisie and the Thompsons fit the bill perfectly.

"Combining the East-Coast contemporary pop of Jackson Browne with the English traditional stylings of earlier Fairport Convention continues to win Maisie and The Thompsons acclaim, so we're anticipating a great night."

Tickets cost £10 without food; £15.50 with a cheese board or £16.50 with a charcuterie or ploughman's platter. Booking is essential by visitingwww.spiritofyorkshire.co.ukor by calling 01723891758.

David and fellow co-founder Tom Mellorshare a love of live music and they specifically designed the Pot Still Coffee Shop so that it could accommodate live music without overpowering the room.

Tom said: "Seating just 50 people, The Pot Still Coffee Shop is a small, intimate venue that attracts lovers of live music and good food. Maisie and the Thompsons wowed the audience at Moonbeams and we're thrilledthat they are coming to perform for our next Distillery Session."

Forthcoming events at the Pot Still Coffee Shop include the distillery's first quiz night on 19thApril, a Tour de Yorkshire inspired whisky and food pairing evening on 3rdMay and the monthly Jazz and Blues Night on the second Friday of the month.
