For the second year running defence and cyber security company, L3 TRL Technology has been announced as the lead sponsor of the gruelling fund-raising charity challenge for cyclists, Tour de Troops Castles 2019. Cyclists will start the mammoth 570-mile (900km) bike ride from Edinburgh on Wednesday 5 June and finish in Cardiff, cycling via Windsor, on Saturday 8 June, having taken in three of the UK’s most significant castles.
The Tour de Troops Castles challenge is part of the Captain James Wadsworth Challenge, which raises money for the charity, Felix Fund.
“The Felix Fund helps bomb disposal and search personnel and their families. It is such an important charity. And one which is extremely close to my heart, having seen first-hand the amazing work that it does.” said Captain James Wadsworth, founder of Tour de Troops The Castles. Capt. Wadsworth joined the army in 1995, worked in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit and served in dangerous postings in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan.

This year, a special reception party will greet riders as
they cross the finishing line, and they will be able to enjoy performances from
the Welsh Male Voice Choir, plus a three-course dinner.
Travel to and from the start and finish points each side of the four day-long stages, and accommodation is included in the £150 entry fee. A support team will be also on hand and nutrition will be provided.
“It takes an enormous amount work to organise a challenge such as the Tour de Troops Castles 2019, and without the support of businesses such as L3 TRL, it simply would not be possible,” said Wadsworth.
