Yorkshire’s first whisky distillery welcomes Edwina Hayes to its music night

Yorkshire's first whisky distillery welcomes Edwina Hayes to its monthly music night

The next artist to perform at the monthly Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery Sessions is celebrated Driffield singer-songwriter, Edwina Hayes.

Edwina, who has, according to American folk star, Nanci Griffith ‘the sweetest voice in England', will perform at the Hunmanby distillery's Pot Still Coffee Shop on Friday 22ndFebruary.

Sprit of Yorkshire co-founder and keen musician, Tom Mellor, is delighted to welcome Edwina back to the Pot Still stage: "With my Wold Top Brewery hat on, Edwina has been a friend of the Moonbeams Festival since it began 11 years ago, and we're delighted to welcome her back to the distillery.

"The Pot Still Coffee Shop at the Spirit of Yorkshire is a small, intimate venue that attracts lovers of live music and good food. Where else in the area can you listen to quality music and enjoy a locally sourced platter of food for £16.50?"

Edwina's beautifully written songs, charming stage presence and voice of an angel have won her a reputation as a true natural talent of gentle folk-Americana. She has opened numerous shows for Jools Holland and Van Morrison and has played stages everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall. Her cover of the Randy Newman song Feels Like Home was featured in the Cameron Diaz film My Sister's Keeper and has had over eight million plays on You Tube.

Tickets for the event cost £10 and from £15.50 with a distillery supper. They are available online at spiritofyorkshire.com or by calling 01723 891758.

Forthcoming events at the Pot Still Coffee Shop at The Spirit of Yorkshire include monthly Jazz and Blues nights with Alastair James on 8thMarch, a Spirit of Bullion Chocolate tasting evening on 15thMarch and Hull singer songwriter Carrie Martin on 22ndMarch.

Tours of the Distillery are available seven days a week and home-made refreshments are served in the Pot Still Coffee Shop that overlooks the stills from 9.30am - 5pm Monday - Saturday, 10am - 3pm Sundays.
