Accessibility is also a key factor that makes Gitcombe Retreat so special. Sleeping eight (plus infants) the property offers full accommodation at ground floor, entry level, in the form of a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom for those who are less able. It is situated in a spectacular position accessed via a tarmac drive at the top of the estate adjacent to the indoor pool facilities.  Designed with privacy in mind, there is parking for three cars including a space directly outside the ground floor bedroom for accessibility.

Gitcombe Retreat has been designed by award-winning architects, Roderick James and is an exquisite, stylish and modern property in a commanding position on the Gitcombe estate. The property has been built by local builders Carpenter Oak with a traditional oak frame design and offers spectacular far reaching views across the majestic rolling countryside. There are all the modern luxuries you would expect from such a high spec property including underfloor heating, designer bathrooms by award-winning Sapphire Spaces and a heat recovery system for the comfort of the guests. 

The open plan living area has unrivalled views on two sides of the room and comfy sofas invite the family to relax and curl up in front of the stylish Morso log burner, or switch on the flat screen smart TV with its state of the art Sonos sound system. If the weather is good guests can retreat through the bi-folding doors to the wrap around oak balcony area which has an outside dining table seating up to 10 adults - perfect for soaking up views and star gazing!

If it's a bit chilly for outside dining, there is a beautiful solid oak dining table, again with seating for 10, waiting in the open plan kitchen area, and perfectly positioned for those who want to try out their culinary creations conjured up in the generous well equipped fitted kitchen.

As the soft lighting and warm furnishings conjure up a feeling of balance and calm, guests can be assured the four spacious double bedrooms, designed by local interior designer Holy Keeling Interiors, will continue to contribute to the relaxing ambience.

Bedroom one is on the ground floor with an accessible luxury en-suite that has been carefully designed to offer the guest ease of access whilst affording them the level of detail and design offered in the other designer bathrooms.

On the lower ground floor the other three bedrooms are situated and benefit from having opening doors on the outside garden, essentially letting the outside in.  The master bedroom boasts a super king bed with plenty of storage with room for a cot.  There is also a spacious designer en-suite bathroom with large shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail and there are gorgeous views from the bathroom window across the private garden and fields beyond.

Bedroom three has been configured so that it has the option of being either a double or twin bedroom.  It has the sole use of the main bathroom directly opposite which is the largest and most luxurious on the Gitcombe Estate!  This bathroom has a walk-in shower with an Ashton and Bentley designer bath for those wishing to luxuriate.

Finally bedroom four is not only a spacious super king characterful room with an en-suite shower and room for a cot, but also  direct access from the bedroom leads to the hot tub, which is exclusively for Gitcombe Retreat guests, and the outside seating area complete with barbeque.

The location is ideal for families, mixed generation holidays and couples looking for a short break.  Gitcombe also has wonderful indoor leisure spa facilities including fabulous heated, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and family sized saunas and steam rooms that are perfect for tired muscles resulting from the many different walking and cycling trails in the area.

The famous towns of Salcombe, beloved by those who adore sailing, historic Dartmouth (where HRH Queen Elizabeth 11 met Prince Philip) and quirky Totnes (known for its independent shops and the individual local currency) are just half an hour away together with award winning vineyards (Sharpham), gorgeous blue flag beaches like Blackpool Sands near Dartmouth and an abundance of pubs and restaurants serving up the best of local Devon produce.
