Win a money can't buy prize in rapeseed oil producer's final anniversary competition

Throughout 2018, Thixendale based rapeseed oil producer Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil

has been celebrating its tenth anniversary by teaming up with some of Yorkshire's best brands to offer competition prizes for loyal fans.

Sought after prizes have been donated by businesses from Michelin starred restaurant The Pipe and Glass to Yorkshire's first whisky distillery, Spirit of Yorkshire and the tenth and final competition prize is bound to pique the interest of gin lovers.

To help the artisan oil producer to celebrate the end of the milestone anniversary, award winning Bedale company Masons Yorkshire Gin are producing a one off gin using wild gooseberries foraged at the farm that is home to Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's marketing manager Jennie Palmer explained how the collaboration came about: "We have had some amazing prizes thanks to the generosity of Yorkshire businesses like Side Oven Bakery, Wold Top Brewery and the Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School, but we wanted our final prize to be something to do with the farm where we grow the oilseed rape and bottle the oil.

"I found some wild gooseberries whilst foraging with my children and had the idea that we could maybe use them to create a one off spirit. Our ‘can do' friends at Masons were only too happy to oblige and the result is a never to be repeated secret blend of pure Yorkshire water, Breckenholme gooseberries, Yorkshire grown apples and selected botanicals.

"The gin has been made in the smallest copper still Masons have with only one bottle available. The winner will have the chance to name their gin too."

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's Facebook followers can enter the free prize draw to win the hand labelled 70cl bottle fromnow until midnight on Sunday 16thDecember.To enter, simply like and share Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's competition post on their facebook page, and comment with your suggestion of a name for this very exclusive gin.

  3. Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 when Adam and Jennie Palmer began cold-pressing their own oil seed rape and taking it to farmer's markets. They call North Breckenholme farm their home, situated on the edge of Yorkshire Wolds and on the outskirts of the North Yorkshire village Thixendale, close to Malton.
  4. The cold-pressed oil is extracted using a natural and chemical-free method, and is extra virgin as it is put through the presser just once. This means it retains all its taste, colour and health benefits, with a balance of omega 3, 6 and 9.
