Get ready for Christmas in Warminster!

There will be plenty of Christmas Cheer in Warminster this weekend with a host of activities leading up to the fabulous Christmas Lights Switch-On this Saturday, 24 November at 6.30pm at The Chapel of St Lawrence.

A colourful Christmas market will run throughout the day at the Warminster Civic Centre from 10am - 4pm with 30 stalls packed with quirky, interesting stocking fillers and plenty of tasty treats. Festive music will ring out with highlights including the Avenue School Choir at 11.30am and of course the traditional sound of the barrel organ and Santa Claus ho-ho-hoing in his Christmas Grotto builds the Christmas atmosphere. Don't forget to be wowed by the amazing stilt walkers from 12.30pm to 1.15pm - always a hit with the little ones!

To continue the carnival atmosphere, get down to Three Horseshoes Walk where percussion band Jamba de Samba will be performing traditional samba rhythms with elements of modern funk and hip-hop beats. At 5.45pm the Lantern Parade, accompanied by the ever popular Charlie the Donkey, leaves Three Horseshoes and heads towards Market Place. Those who took part in the Lantern Making Workshops will know that the Mayor of Warminster is judging the best lanterns and the winners will be asked to turn on the Christmas lights at 6.30pm.

Road closures will operate between 4.30pm - 7.30pm which means there is plenty of room for all the festivities to continue into early evening. Look out for the swing chairs and fun bus, plus more appearances by the stilt walkers, Warminster brass band and in case all this makes you hungry, a whole selection of food stalls selling fresh cinnamon doughnuts, spicy chicken wings and wraps, delicious Val's Burgers and a taste of Paradise in ice crepes and ice cream!

After all that festive food, be sure to grab a song sheet so you can join in singing carols at the Chapel of St Lawrence at 6pm so you are in position to enjoy the Christmas Lights Switch-On at 6.30pm.

Warminster Town Council wishes everyone a very Happy Christmas in 2018!
