THE RECYCLING ASSOCIATION SAYS UK PLASTICS PACT ROADMAP WILL MAKE "SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE"

The publication of the UK Plastics Pact Roadmap to 2025 is an important milestone in UK plastics recycling, according to The Recycling Association.

WRAP has published the document A Roadmap to 2025 - the UK Plastics Pact that looks at how retailers, manufacturers, recyclers, local government and others will need to work together to meet key targets for 2025.

The Recycling Association chief executive Simon Ellin said: "This roadmap will make a significant difference to how plastics are recycled into new products within the UK.

"It should also help to increase the demand for recycled content in plastic packaging, while enabling the opportunity to create a supply line for high quality recycled plastics.

"To achieve these goals will require significant investment to increase and improve UK collection, sorting and recycling infrastructure. We are hopeful that the soon-to-be-published Resources & Waste strategy will provide that funding source from vastly increased Extended Producer Responsibility for this to take place."
