DIGITAL MORTGAGE ADVISOR HOOCHT. TAKES NEXT BOLD STEP – BY JOINING LONDON’S CUTTING-EDGE ‘HERE EAST’ CROWD

Digital mortgage advisor HOOCHT. has cut quite a dash since it was set up by experienced mortgage advisor Rich Wynn just over a year ago, including appearing alongside all the major players in numerous national media articles.

Now, Rich is preparing HOOCHT. for its next developmental step, moving down from Hull to new offices at the Here East tech hub, in London’s trendy east.

Founder and MD Rich said: “Our first year of trading has been phenomenal, both in terms of the volume, value and in the way we’ve been able to establish ourselves in the evolving space of digital mortgage broking.

“We now feel that moving to London in order to expand, develop and increase capacity, is the natural next step for us. Here East is a perfect new home for us and we’re looking forward to this exciting new challenge which will see us stepping up our growth.

“It will enable us to really hone in on the tech, to stay one step ahead in what is a rapidly evolving space.”

Having ‘proved the concept’, Rich added that he is hoping to significantly grow the HOOCHT. team. He said: “By playing to our strengths, with the right people who understand and want to be part of our evolving story, I believe we will be able to double, maybe even triple the size of our team within the next 12 months.”

By the end of October, which also marks the end of HOOCHT.’s first year of trading, they will have helped just under 10,000 customers start their mortgage journey.  With a small team, from a standing start, Rich believes this is unparalleled for a start-up mortgage company and shows the potential of using technology for the benefit of consumers and intermediaries alike.

“Unlike some of our competitors, we’ve concentrated on organic growth powered by content marketing and word of mouth all centred on good, solid mortgage broking expertise, rather than spending vast amounts of money on extensive advertising.  We believe we’ve proved our model works and our potential to grow makes us even more excited,” added Rich.

“Growing our team would enable us to increase the amount of business we do next year, as the only 100 per cent privately owned digital brokerage.”

HOOCHT. made national headlines most recently for establishing unique partnerships with digital insurtech disruptor Homelyfe and conveyancing management platform When You Move, as part of its background plan to develop its site into a user-friendly, one-stop platform for all things home-buying. This is all central to the HOOCHT. ethos of offering customers access to some of the most complex products of their financial lives, as quickly and simply as possible. Homelyfe, for example, offers a four-minute insurance purchasing option via the HOOCHT. website, while applying for a mortgage takes just 15 minutes.

Here East, in east London, is being billed as the ‘creative hub of the capital’. Based in the former Olympic Press and Broadcast Centre, in Queen Elizabeth Business Park, it totals 1.2 million square feet with unrivalled connectivity infrastructure, aimed at giving ‘the emerging breed of innovators and digital makers a habitat of their own where they can cluster, grow and thrive alongside each other’. The businesses based there span industries from tech to education, media and data.

HOOCHT. is a real time mortgage advice platform, which uses sophisticated online tools and is powered in part by AI. The customer journey is handled by chatbots, the process will give an automatically generated idea of their mortgage and borrowing capacity. Customers are then passed to HOOCHT.’s expert brokers for advice, via a live online chat, to accept and receive their recommendations.

In this way, HOOCHT. combines the personal service and advice consumers need in todays highly complex financial marketplace, with the convenience and speed they associate with other daily tasks. HOOCHT.’s service is also completely free.
