Media Release

Don't miss the Half Term Magical Lantern Workshops and your child could be turning on the Christmas lights!

Look out for Magical Lantern Workshops taking place at Warminster Civic Centre this Half Term. Warminster Town Council, together with the Three Horseshoes Walk Shopping Centre, has arranged two free workshops which will run on Tuesday, 30 October and Thursday 1 November from 1pm to 4 pm.

What's more, there will be a competition to be judged on the evening of the Christmas Lights Switch On to decide on two winning lanterns (school aged children up to 16 can enter) and the owners of the winning lantern will have the honour of turning on the Warminster Christmas lights on Saturday 24 November.

Fiona Fox, Warminster Town Clerk, said, "Our lantern making workshops have always been popular and this year Three Horseshoes is working with us and providing sponsorship to cover costs of the materials used in both workshops."

If your child cannot make one of the workshops, lantern kits can be collected from the Civic Centre and are available for official groups of Brownies, Cubs and local primary schools.

Fiona continues, "Any school age child who makes a lantern with our lantern making kits will have the opportunity to enter their lantern in to the competition for best lantern. The two winners will be chosen on the 24 November and asked to turn on the Warminster Christmas lights this year."

Warminster Town Council is working on planning the Christmas festivities and is confident that this year's Christmas Lights Switch On will be one to remember.
