Artisan producer tells 10 year story at women in farming event

 

The co-founder of an award winning rapeseed oil business addressed over 60 delegatesat an event for women in farming recently.

 

Jennie Palmer, marketing manager at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil in Thixendale, North Yorkshire shared the story of her and husband Adam's 10 year journey since launching Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil at the Women in Farming Network annual conference.

 

Jennie was joined at the event on 9thOctober byfellow speakersHarriet Wilson from Aldi UK; Maria Boyce from Savills; Molly Coombs from Grand get-togethers; Steph Berkeley from Farm Safety Foundation and Chair, Judith Wood from Barclays for a day of‘Information, Challenge and Celebration' at the Pavilions in Harrogate.

 

Jennie said: "It was a great honour to be invited to speak at the conference and it was inspirational to spend the day with women who can identify with the challenges of building a rural business."

 

Delegate Helen Miles from campaigning group deliciouslyorkshire was equally inspired by the event: "It was a superb, well organised event and the speakers were all excellent."

 

The Women in Farming network is part of the Yorkshire Rural Support Network and was established for women who live and work on farms and in agricultural related industries to build contacts and friendships and to learn from women working in the same environment.

 

The network is free to join and meets four to five times a year with a range of breakfast, lunch and evening meetings in addition to the annual conference.

 

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil produces a range ofoils, dressing and mayonnaisebased on their award winning rapeseed oil that is produced exclusively from home and Yorkshire Wolds grown rapeand pressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm. 

 

The oil is used in Michelin starred kitchens, including the Pipe and Glass at South Dalton, and all products are preservative, GM and gluten free and are suitable for vegetarians.

 

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil products are available at farmers' markets, farm shops, delis and independent retailers throughout Yorkshire.
