NewVIc launches new ‘Professionals' vocational programme with intensive industry experience

In response to the changes in vocational education, NewVIc is launching a new ‘Professionals' programme.  The vocational programme is a two year course with a blend of technical in class study, career development and real industry experience.

The programme is for students who already have a clear idea of their future career and is designed to propel them into the world of work, filling high-level skills gaps and tailoring their learning to specific business needs. 

The launch will be taking part in conjunction with the NewVIc Open Day on Saturday 13 October, from 9.30am - 12.30pm.

Local businesses have been invited to attend along with parents and students enrolled on the course.  They will meet industry partners and course leaders to find out more about the programme and potential career opportunities.

Newham council will also be attending in support of the programme.

This event is open to all prospective students and business leaders.  Come along to find out more about the programme, career opportunities and how industry placement can benefit businesses and contribute to community wellbeing.

"We are really excited to be launching the NewVIc Professionals programme. NewVIc was the only sixth form college in the country to pilot substantial work placement commissioned by the DfE, the ‘Professionals' programme has evolved from this project. What makes this course unique is the amount of hands-on industry experience students receive.  It's unlike any other course we offer. The attitude towards the traditional route to university is changing.  Many of our students now want tangible practical experience which will make them more desirable to employers as well as universities."
