The latest revision to the British Standard covering wall tilinghttps://www.tiles.org.uk/tta-urges-awareness-of-changes-in-british-standard-bs-5383-part-1-2018-wall-floor-tilingincludes a number of important changes. One states -tiling direct to plywood is no longer recommended for wall tiling; a bespoke tiling backer board should be used.

The removal of plywood from the new Standard, as a recommended substrate for wall tiling, is viewed as necessary due to the wide variance in the quality of product now available on the UK market. A lot of cheaper imported plywoods are not able to provide a "stable and rigid background", as mentioned in the previous Standard. The decline in the quality of plywood is mirrored by the rise of specially developed tiling backer boards which are now offered by a number of manufacturers. These are stable and moisture resistant, as well as offering increased insulation and protection against mould.

Abacus Elements is well known as the go-to brand for waterproofing and wetroom solutions in the bathroom, creating innovative and flexible designs coupled with ultimate build quality. So it came as second nature to launch an even better version of the popular Elements Tile Backer Board.

What sets the new Elements Ultimate Tile Backer Boards apart from the competition is the engineered quality; for "behind the tiles" security, there is simply nothing like it on the market. It is a fully comprehensive system for creating totally waterproof solutions in all fixing applications.

The 100% waterproof system incorporates more sizes of boards than any other manufacturer and includes floor and wall kits, all of which can be tiled directly. The key features of the board include insulating properties, exceptionally high compressive strength, and a full range of complementary components. The cost-effective Backer Board system is lightweight, easy to handle and cut, and ideal for application with electric underfloor heating.

In addition, the new Elements boards, in many thicknesses from 6mm to 80mm, are now available in more sizes than any other product of this type; from mini 1200mm x 600mm boards, tall 2400mm x 600mm boards and wide 2400mm x 900mm boards especially designed for shower cubicles.  There is even a full 2400mm x 1200mm x 12mm option. They can be ordered in singles or pallet quantities.

Offering customers the very best service, Abacus Elements exceeds customer expectations with next day delivery available on any orders placed before 3pm.
