Roll up to Skipsea for a weekend of wedding inspiration

Planning a celebratory event but unsure where on earth to start? Well, here’s an unmissable date for your diary – on the weekend of October 13 and 14, Skipsea Village Hall in East Yorkshire will be the place to go to find the ultimate inspiration for your special do.

Leading local marquee hire company Village Farm Marquees are hosting the free event and have invited a bevy of top quality suppliers including caterers, stylists, florists, bars, DJs and musicians, chauffeurs and photographers to exhibit their services. Visitors are welcome to just turn up anytime between 11am and 3pm on both days, or alternatively they can book appointments in advance with Village Farm Marquees if they wish to have a private no-obligation consultation.

Each day, the first 50 visitors to arrive will be rewarded with a fabulous goodie bag, including free tickets to The UK Wedding Event and a gorgeous Paperchase wedding planner. A free masterclass will also be held each day, with event expert Helen Davies sharing top tips on wedding planning, and another focusing on how to get into shape for your big day with personal trainer Katherine Bray.

Exclusive special offers, discounts and free prize draws will also be available to attendees, including a chance to win a photoshoot with Beyond the Frame Photography, and a free night’s bed and breakfast for anyone booking Skipsea Village Hall for their celebration.

One opportunity not to be missed is the chance to see first-hand both a fully lined and dressed room as well as a fully dressed marquee. Co-director of Village Farm Marquees Chrysta Newman said: “People can sometimes find it quite difficult to visualise what a marquee or a space, such as a village hall, could look and feel like for their special event.

“This open weekend will give them a chance to experience how an interior space can be transformed with marquee draping and lighting, and how a marquee can be cleverly designed to create a bespoke venue that caters for all aspects of an event, including reception, dining, dancing, bar, and chill-out areas.”

Clear Span marquees are really versatile and are suitable for year-round use.  They offer a huge array of choice from layout to flooring, lighting (including a romantic ‘starlight roof’), clear roof and panoramic windows, verandas, furniture, heating, air conditioning, drapes, and every styling option imaginable.

Chrysta added: “Visitors to the open weekend will be able to chat with a wide range of reputable suppliers, it’s like a one-stop shop for everything you could possibly need for your event!”

Renowned event planner Helen Davies will be on hand with her expert advice, and will be delivering a free workshop packed with tips and hints for anyone about to take on the daunting task of organising a major celebration.

“It can feel like a bit of a minefield when you first step into the world of event planning,” said Beverley-based Helen, “but I’ll be offering plenty of pointers to get you started and help keep the process as stress-free as possible.”

Louisianna’s Mobile Bars, from York, will also be exhibiting at the open weekend. Owner Lee Cowell said: “We’ll be there with our popular Gin Tin mobile bar. We’re looking forward to chatting with visitors over the weekend and advising on all our different bar options.

“Events like these are a great, informal way for people to get lots of information, meet suppliers, and see up close some of the amazing local services that are available to hire. We’ve worked with Village Farm Marquees many times now and they are brilliant at bringing together a network of different suppliers.”

Chrysta added: “Ultimately all the suppliers present at the open weekend have one thing in common – an absolute focus on delivering the best possible experience for their client. It’s not just about providing a marquee or a bar, it’s about helping to create magical memories in people’s lives.”

The Village Farm Marquees open weekend will take place at Skipsea Village Hall, between 11am and 3pm on October 13 and 14. Anyone wishing to book a private appointment can ring 01262 468160 or message via the Village Farm Marquees Facebook page.
